Fat Brain Toys Logo Redesign
Logo & Brand Identity
Hands-on design execution and brand refinement
A strong logo is essential for brand recognition, especially in digital spaces where scalability and versatility are key. The original Fat Brain Toys logo, while visually appealing, lacked crucial elements such as an icon, a structured logo lockup, and web-friendly variations like a horizontal format for responsive design. To modernize the brand, I led the redesign process, ensuring the new logo would be adaptable across eCommerce, packaging, and marketing materials while maintaining the company’s playful and creative identity.

I explored numerous variations and iterations, refining the design to balance brand personality with functional versatility. Once we landed on a strong direction, we collaborated with Webster Design, where I leveraged my past connections to have them add a polished, professional touch. Throughout the process, I led the rebrand, ensuring consistency and usability across all applications.

The side-by-side comparison highlights two timeless logos—one a beloved classic and the other a necessary evolution. While the original holds nostalgic value, the new design modernizes the brand with a web-friendly structure, improved scalability, and a refined, versatile identity.

A Classic Evolution: Balancing Nostalgia and Modern Needs
Working closely with the owners on the redesign ensured the new logo stayed true to the brand’s tone and voice while enhancing functionality for digital and print applications.
  • Scalability: A refined logo system that remains crisp and recognizable across all screen sizes and print materials.
  • Versatility: Multiple lockups, including an icon and horizontal variation, for seamless integration across web and packaging.
  • Recognition: A balanced update that modernizes the brand while preserving its established identity.
There’s much more to this brand development process, but for the sake of brevity, this highlights the key elements. As the primary visual designer and lead, I’d be happy to expand on further details if requested.

KidVentor: Empowering Young Creators through Design
The KidVentor campaign was an exciting internal initiative that encouraged young innovators to submit their toy design ideas through a user-friendly platform. As the lead designer, I was responsible for creating the entire visual identity, including the logo, color palette, and supporting assets. The logo design included both horizontal and vertical versions to ensure flexibility across various media and placements. In addition to the logo, I designed the landing page to explain the contest details and time frame, along with a submission page where participants could easily drag and drop photos and describe their toy ideas.

This project involved a combination of visual creativity and functional design, ensuring the user experience was intuitive and engaging. The vibrant color palette was chosen to appeal to a young audience while maintaining a professional look for internal branding. The sign-up and submission process was designed with simplicity and ease in mind, offering participants a seamless way to share their concepts.
