I specialize in creating mobile-first, accessible, and visually compelling digital experiences, combining user-centered design with strong visual aesthetics to deliver intuitive and functional solutions. With a solid understanding of user goals and product flows, I’ve led impactful projects like redesigning Mutual of Omaha’s marketing site and driving an e-commerce rebrand at Fat Brain Toys. I collaborate closely with engineers, product owners, and cross-functional teams, using data and user feedback to refine designs and ensure they meet business goals. My experience in both UX and visual design, paired with my technical knowledge, enables me to solve complex design challenges, prioritize tasks that drive results, and advocate for design solutions with evidence-based decisions. As a UX Visual Designer at Mutual of Omaha, I worked closely with Agile teams to craft mobile-first, ADA-compliant interfaces that met user and business goals. I led projects such as the Planning and Advice section and Medicare Advice Center questionnaire, ensuring seamless, accessible user experiences. I used Figma and Adobe Illustrator to create wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes, integrating user personas, secondary research, and feedback from user studies to refine designs.
I initiated peer-led design reviews and weekly presentations, helping foster a collaborative environment where design decisions were supported by evidence and feedback. I also helped onboard interns and junior designers, sharing my design process and knowledge with the team.
As Lead UI/UX & Web Designer at Fat Brain Toys, I led the design and development of e-commerce and branding initiatives, collaborating with the Marketing Director, developers, and external partners like Google. I created wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes, and utilized front-end development with the Bootstrap CSS framework to ensure responsive, mobile-friendly user experiences.
I contributed to developing style guides and brand standards, led a soft rebrand and full-site redesign, and optimized the cart and checkout process, resulting in increased mobile conversions. I also designed responsive email campaigns to drive customer engagement.
As a Full-Stack Engineer at Mutual of Omaha, I worked closely with product owners and cross-functional teams to modernize applications, focusing on aligning user needs with business goals. While my primary responsibility was backend development using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices, I also contributed to small UX wireframing projects to improve the user experience. I collaborated with product owners to understand project requirements and helped guide the modernization process with a focus on user needs.
I also worked on optimizing APIs to improve system communication and scalability, learning and applying best practices while focusing on delivering functional solutions that were aligned with the team’s goals.
As a Cloud Engineer at Mutual of Omaha, I worked within the Cloud Technology Platform (CTP) team, initially joining as part of the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team. I developed AWS CDK constructs using Python and TypeScript to streamline infrastructure provisioning, ensuring scalability and automation with CloudFormation. My primary focus was to support the organization’s developers by providing solutions that enhanced their workflows, ultimately impacting the customer-facing systems.
While my role was not design-centric, I contributed to internal branding efforts, designing an internal logo and several infographics in Adobe Illustrator. I collaborated in Agile teams using JIRA and Confluence, and implemented Jenkins for CI/CD automation, focusing on delivering infrastructure-as-code solutions that met business objectives and optimized scalability.
As Production Manager at Webster Design, I oversaw the end-to-end process for a wide range of print and digital design projects. I managed client relationships, coordinated internal teams, and ensured that projects met timelines, quality standards, and client specifications. My role involved preflighting design files, ensuring color accuracy, and preparing assets for production release.
I worked closely with designers to ensure consistency across projects, offering guidance on design standards and best practices. Additionally, I liaised with vendors to ensure all outputs—whether print or digital—met client expectations. I focused on delivering high-quality, visually impactful solutions while maintaining budget adherence.
During this time, I began exploring UI/UX and web design by attending Interface Web School, which later paved the way for my transition into UI/UX visual design.
Throughout my graphic design career, I specialized in design and vector illustration, delivering high-quality print and digital materials. Using Adobe Creative Suite, I created marketing collateral, custom logos, and vector illustrations for a wide range of clients, ensuring brand consistency across all projects. I played a crucial role in developing strong visual identities through brochures, catalogs, and trade show graphics while preparing files for production.
In addition to design, I focused on prepress tasks, such as color correction and file preparation, ensuring assets were print-ready and met client specifications. I worked closely with clients to tailor designs that communicated their messages effectively while maintaining tight deadlines and quality standards.
